How can I treat this injured, wild baby rabbit?

My neighbor's cat always hunts for wild animals, and it doesn't bother me when she gets rats and mice, but it does bother me when she catches rabbits or birds.

Today I saw her with a little baby rabbit and I chased her away so the little rabbit could escape. However, I noticed the rabbit was injured and didn't run off, so I put it into this shoe box to take it back into the woods.

I then noticed that the rabbit was bleeding from his abdominal area.

It's still in the box and I don't know what to do with it because it's too injured to run away.

I don't have the money to take it to the Vet because they charge outrageous prices.

What should I do with it? I don't want to just let it die. Is there a way I can treat it myself?

Do not attempt to care for the rabbit yourself. It is illegal for you to keep unless you have the proper permits. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. You can find one here: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact....

Never take a wild animal to a vet - vets are for pets and few have the expertise to treat a wild animal. Also, they do not have the proper licenses to keep a wild animal while it recouperates. Wildlife rehabilitators have the specialized training to care for sick, injured and orphaned wild animals, and they have the state and federal licenses necessary to keep the wild animals until they are healthy enough to be released back into the wild.

Best of all, most licensed wildlife rehabilitators do this for free, or for a small donation.
Reply:please call the animal society right away! you should never leave and injured animal in the woods all alone. you should definately call the animal society. try going to http://www.animalsociety.com and call them right away, and the poor rabbit will be safe. good luck, and be careful
Reply:put some med and wrap some bandages around, wait for it to heal,i once did it to one of my fully grown rabbits, after some time it was ok
Reply:You need to call a wildlife rehabilitator. These people are trained to deal with wildlife.

Call around to a few vet and tell them you are looking for the number of a wildlife rehabilitator, some vets offices will have these numbers. I found a injured seagull once and had to call three different vet offices before I found one that had the number. Also, some vet hospitals work with rehabilitators and will take the animal until the wildlife place can come pick it up. There is a hospital located near me that takes wild animals, you just fill out a form with info on where you found the animal(I guess so they can release it backeventually)

This animals best bet is a professional. Wild rabbits are very sensitive and need expert care to survive.
