Just checked - this is how to get there
Reply:They are called walkers and used properly they are a great toy. Children (well most) are very very curious and want to explore but get frustrated when they can't (at the crawling stage) and this gives them the means to do that.

Where on earth in the world are the actaully Illegal???? What should be illegal are stupid parents who don't supervise their kids propery. Accidents happen at times but they will at every stage in your babies live.
Reply:Baby walkers, you can buy them everywhere. Like any/most baby products you don't/shouldn't leave your baby in the item without supervision. That's why accidents happen. My daughter had a baby walker, mothercare, argos, babys r us and most of the larger baby shops sell them and when used properly are great. Accidents have happened with babies in bouncing chairs and that's because people leave there children unaided. There is nothing wrong with walkers I personally thing they are good items.x
Reply:walker.
Reply:I work for a major early years store and we strongly recommend that parents never buy the activity stations with wheels. Children run into things, knocking them down and injuring themselves (e.g. book cases). Anyone with a small child knows that it is impossible to keep an eye on them every second. It may also stop them from learning how to walk unsupported. The Leapfrog Learn and groove station is excellent. Have a look:

Reply:you can still get the walkers with wheels in my area i no this because my brother got one friday.and if kids fall down the stairs its not nothing to do with the walkers its the parents not watching their child and having no stair gates, who lets a small child crawl or roam around near stairs anyway if cant get up and down alone safely..
Reply:In my area you can buy walkers and I have one. The one I have has a rail with rubber stoppers around the rim so if the baby goes near the steps the rubber stoppers prevent it from going over. It is great when they first start out but as their legs get stronger they can really push and it will go over. I like my exersaucer much better and for leg strength I used one of those jumpers that come with their own frame (not the ones that hang from a doorway)

Reply:baby walker I think it does have another name now come to think of it I just bought one for my baby its something like walking trainer but not that oh I can't remember it fully I know the name threw me a bit

I've just remember its a baby exerciers and they are not banned Mothercare sells a range of about 4 of them and the whole point of them is to be used untill a child can walk, once they are walking they shouldn't go in a baby excersier anyway so if accidents happen its because the child isn't being watched the the item is being used when it shouldn't be.

Reply:Walkers have wheels. The stationary ones are exersaucers.

Most people will not recommend walkers because of the safety issues and also because they have been proven to actually slow down, not help, a baby in learning how to walk unassisted.

They are really dangerous though. When I was 3, my mom had my sister in her walker in the bedroom so she could take a shower. I noticed my sister wanted to play, so I ever-so-helpfully opened the bedroom door and helped her to the top of the staircase. Luckily there was a babygate at the bottom to catch her fall..... She's ok, but I know I wouldn't get one for my kids because of that one example.
Reply:The walkers with wheels are off the market because of the danger of the baby wheeling themselves down a flight of stairs.
Reply:the ones with wheels are walkers. And they are no longer manufactured because too many children have been seriously injured by falling down a flight of stairs. They are also illegal to own in most places
