My baby girl is 14 months old and not walking is that normal ?!?!?
Is she a perfectionist? My eldest and youngest are and they will take a while to walk. She just wants to be perfect with the ups and downs of walking holding onto something before she strikes out into the open world of walking. When at home keep the shoes off they do more harm than good. Give her time if you are really worried bring it up at her next Doctors appointment.
Reply:take the shoes off her and let her go sock footed or barefooted.theyve proven tennis shoes or barefeet is best way to learn.oneday she will take off,so quit worrying.the shoes do not help her walk.
Reply:She's still in the normal range, so do not worry right now. I would also suggest getting her around other children her age that are walking if you aren't doing that already.

Studies show that when children see other children the same age crawling and walking, they are more interested in trying it as well.

Reply:It's absolutely normal! Don't worry until about 18 months. I have 7 kids and only one walked before the first birthday. Most were in the 14 -16 month range.
Reply:My son will be 14 months on Jan 13 and he is not walking. He cruises around the furniture and takes a step or 2 then falls down. I've been working with him. I asked the Dr about and she said not to worry that he would do it on his own within the next month. So I will just have to wait and see. Keep working with your daughter...she'll get the hang of it.
Reply:it might take a while. but have her practice her walking and balance....
Reply:My baby boy is also 14 mths and not walking just yet. He will walk enthusiastically if we hold his hands, so lately we've been practicing, like, "OK, let's walk to the kitchen....Let's walk to the living room", instead of letting him crawl everywhere. He likes this little game. So I'm not too worried bc he'll figure it out sooner or later, like he did with crawling (he was a late crawler, too!)...My friend's little girl didn't crawl until 14 mths. So, don't worry!!
Reply:My nephew didn't walk until 16 months %26amp; he's perfectly normal.
Reply:She will be fine. the average age to walk is 13 to 15 months. Mine did not walk til about 14 and 1/2 months. I was freaking out..........seemed like everyone I knew had a kid that was walking at 10 or 11 months.........but she started walking and so will your little one.

You can hold her hands and encourage her to take steps. But she will walk on her own........I assure you she will not crawl to kindergarden.

Come to think of it, I think that is why mine took so long to walk. she was a VERY fast crawler. she coudl get from here to there in no time. But walking, unsteady as she was, took much longer.......
Reply:My daughter didn't walk til she was 15 months old and this is normal. Most Parenting books say that it is normal for children anywhere up till 18 months but once you get to that age and they are still not walking it might be wise to have a chat to your doctor.

And take the shoes off till about 6 weeks after she starts walking. If you put shoes on kids with ridged soles prior to this they tend to curl up the toes when you put there shoes on and it effects their ability to balance.
