Kids with wheels in their shoes...?

does anyone else think that parents who let their kids wheel round shops and busy streets are irresponsible!

the other day i was in a shop and a girl wheeled herself my way and tripped.. she missed my 8 week old baby in a pram by inches.. !!

what sort of parent thinks it is ok for there kids to trip and fall on babies and old people or whoever is shopping!! jeez!

fair enough on quiet roads or in the park.. but teach them responsibility!!

yeah i am annoyed.. but wouldnt u be if ur baby had been put in danger...

Kids with wheels in their shoes...?
I try really hard not to judge other people's parenting based on just one thing, but I do think the shoes are obnoxious, and dangerous. My 4 year old has almost been taken out by those kids a few times in stores, and I am not above telling them to slow down and be careful. I will not allow my daughter to have a pair, even when she's "old enough", and even if all her friends have them. If she wants to skate, I will get her roller skates and take her to the park or a rink. lol
Reply:I think they should be treated as toys. It's just like roller blades or a bike. They are fun and cool to wear, but kids need to learn to use them responsibly and safely. I DON'T think they should be just worn around in stores and such places. I see some of the previous answers give accounts on how dangerous they can be. I mean, children have died! What more do they need to know?
Reply:Thinking more these things dont have ankle support like proper skates and breaking and roads come to mind
Reply:I totally agree!! I think they are dangerous, there is now way my daughter would have a pair tantrum or not!! You can't ride a bike or wear skates in a shop so why should kids be allowed to wear these heely's??
Reply:I agree completely! There was one wheeling around the car showroom I work in the other day and that was a nightmare. The parents just didn't care! When I was young and roller skates were really in we weren't allowed them anywhere but the bit of street we used to skate up. I would never have even entertained the idea of going into a shop with them on!
Reply:yes itsso annoying wen youjust have akid wheeling in front of you
Reply:These shoes are Heelies.

They're made to roll around with a wheel in the heel that can easily be taken out for walking as well.

These shoes are all the rage now, I wish they were made against the law. I've seen a little girl fall into a rack and break a few things on the rack. This was at the mall.

Most parents could care less, they're on their cell phones shopping and whatnot.
Reply:I know... i get really annoyed in tesco when they are just zooming around not looking where there going and seeing how fast they can go even though its really busy... and some woman yesterday goes go on kids off you go... and let the run full pelt down the aisles... baring in mind one was about 2 and the other 5 if they trip over a trolley wheel or something stupid like that... a smack on the face on that flooring... i wouldnt like to think about it!!! gives me goosebumps and i don't even have kids!!! peoples these days make me really annoyed! That was nice to get off my chest!
Reply:ok i admit that my kid's wear those heelies ,and they scoot around the supermarket with them on . some times you dont realise that they are wearing them until you are in the shop ok tell us off we are trying to keep our kids happy and buy them for our kids but just you keep your self alert so that accidents dont happen it is not always children in heelies that cause accidents sure now a days if you are pushing a pram no one moves out of your way ,you have to go around them thats what really gets me.
Reply:I totally agree. Kids think its fun to ride around in them. But they and their parents need to be more aware about were they are and if they should wheel around or not, Altho i am glad that your baby is ok! :)
Reply:you are right ! i agree ...i was in asda (walmart) last weekend and a girl kept whizzing by me on them wheely things and she was really getting on my mammory glands !! (t*ts)
Reply:I Hate them things they git on my nerves♥
Reply:All of those children who use their "wheelys" irresponsibly should be tripped by anyone who pleases to do so...
Reply:Yes as far as i'm aware they are illegal in public places!

what do you do if you get injured by them ? sue the parents??
Reply:i think its the parent who are irresponsible, they should keep the children under control, fair eough keep them entertained around the shops but keep an eye on them!!
Reply:We were in Argos and I glared at a kid skating in the shop. He looked at me, then kinda flipped backwards and landed on his bum. Very funny, but he should not have been skating in the shop. I always tell them to stop. Parents should not let them have the wheels out in a shop or in a shopping centre.
Reply:I agree with you 100%. I actually had a young kid who was wearing them run into my 4 yr old and then tell my 4 yr old that he should have moved! They were lucky that they took off right away! Many of the stores in our local area have signs on the doors now that "heelys" are not allowed in the store. I wish more stores would do that. Maybe we should start a new club - Moms Against Heelys?!?!?!
Reply:those shoes are a nightmare! i cant believe some idiot thought that would be a good idea... oh i know lets put some wheels in trainers, its a danger. i know of 3 kids that have been killed, because they wheeled straight out onto the road.

those shoes are a nightmare so i fully agree

im glad your baby was ok btw!
Reply:wow- i had no idea!! Ive never had a problem with them.....
Reply:Hunny, i think i'll be the voice of diffrent.

1) They are fun, did you have a favorite toy that you would play with SO much, that people would get mad at you for it? Well, there ya go.

2) It's called an accident, i no that your not perfect.

3) WHAT! how can being "responsably" keep you from falling? It's like saying, If your teen is in a car accident, its because their parents are bad and need to teach them responsibly!

So i mean... really, be realistic.

p.s. Ok, ok i can understand you would be mad at that girl, but i mean, they dont need to be outlawed, or anything.
Reply:i think you mean heelys and yes i think they're very dangerous, they're the biggest fad and lots of kids in my class have them, they're also pretty expensive and what if you rolled in a street! the wheel part was banned in my school and should be everywhere!
Reply:totally wrong and yes i would be very annoyed
Reply:A child got killed in my area wearing those. They skidded into the path of an oncoming vehicle. They are dangerous.
Reply:Yeah I agree, you should have complained to security and told them what happened, the problem is that they are hard to detect because the wheels are hidden.
Reply:I'm one of those parents that did let her children buy their own heely's.. however, if we were going out, I made them pop the wheels out and give them to me. They were NEVER allowed to use the wheels in stores or any busy area. I even made them leave the wheels home when they wore them to school. I was not going to take the chance of them hurting someone else. Parents need to leave to be responsible. "A place for everything and everything in it's place"
Reply:ban the shoes or shoot the kids
Reply:i agree with u there is no way i would buy those for my children.
Reply:sorry never heard of them and yes i agree its irresponsible of the parents to let their children wear them around shops

granted wear them in the playground wherever its safe to play

BUT a supermarket is NOT a playground and should be banned from shopping centers
Reply:I believe they are expensive and unsafe. It`s like being on rollar skates all the time. They can`t be comfortable, being on a slight incline all the time? What about gym in school, what do they do with those shoes? How do they participate?
Reply:I work in a rather small, cramped shop and children are always coming in wearing these Heelys. They knock over the displays, crash into people and the shoes marked our floor. We regularly ask these kids not to do it but they just ignore us.

I think there should be a ban on these things in town centres and in shops.
Reply:These little people, including yours, are children.
