Baby walking on there toes...how do u stop it?

My daughter has been walking on her tipy toes, since she was 9 mo. She will be 1 on the 14th of Aug...and she still walks like that. and I mean , on her TIPY toes, like ballerina style..and now on both of her pinky toes, there like splits/cutsm there really deep and look painfull..Even if I put shoes on her, she still walks on her toes, and if the shoes wont let her, then she wont walk...I've talked to the doctor and he says you shouldnt worry about it unless she's still walking like that by the age of 2...but I worry cause the little cuts are deep..I have medicine for them but they wont go away, they just keep spliting..what do I do?

My son did this exact same thing. He stopped on his own somewhere between 14-16 months old. I wouldn't worry about it just yet.
Reply:Growing up I had a cousin who did this until she was a preteen, no one ever told her to stop. When my son started to do this I went to the flat soled shoe, He too refused to walk but after a few days he stopped fighting it and started walking again. Toe walking has been known to shorten the tendons and really isn't a physically appropriate way to walk, just keep trying. Good Luck
Reply:When a baby/toddler first begins to learn to walk they always do it on their tippy toes. If you stand a 9 month old on their feet and hold their hands they will go straight to their toes. So will a younger baby. Hold on to her from behind and ask her to put her feet flat on the floor. You might have to show her how a few times.

There are some exercise that you can do to help her do this. I agree with the Dr though, if it is still a problem by the time she is two then you MAY nee some medical intervention. Until then, try and persist with teaching her to put her feet flat on the ground.

Try to make a game of it. She has to walk with her feet flat on the ground about 5 metres to get a toy or a treat of some kind.

Hope this helps and good luck!!!

Have a great day/night!!!

Reply:My friends three year old sister walks like that.
Reply:I would try and get treatment for the splits. You can get some cream from the chemist that will help, and maybe cover them with band aids. Apart from that, I wouldn't worry about the walking on tippy toes. I've known 2 little girls who have done it, and eventually they have gone down on their feet. I think it's just a way of getting their confidence, and then it becomes habit. It's pretty good for their leg muscles, and gives them better balance. But, yeah I'd be a bit concerned about the splits on her toes, but is it from the way she walks, or another type of skin condition?
Reply:it could be her achillies tendons are stretched that happed to afreinds brother and had surgury to fix it
Reply:i have worked in infant care centers for 7 years now this is something we found is that moms and dads who put there babys in shoes when thay first learn to walk the shoe is more commin a running shoe or a brand name shooe hard sole and a swoop at the top of the toe children lern to walk on tippy toe becouse thay cant feel the ground and dont get the balince from the sole on the shoe and that little swoop make a balince point i always tell my moms and dad when thay first start to walk leave them bare foot or if you have to put shoes on use a flat high top kind of shoe put your little one in a flat high top with not much sole the best i have found are the old style gerbert brand if she wont walk in them give it time she will ajust to the feel if you keep it consetint

sorry about my spellling typeing relly fast
Reply:Just wondered, but does she use a baby walker or door bouncer?

These are now not recommended for a number of very good safety and developmental reasons. One of those being toddlers walking on their tip toes.

Check out the link to read the article for more info.
Reply:scold her and ask her to walk on feet
