What size?

i want to start buying shoes for my baby boy when he is born. is there a size i should start with? i saw infant sizes 1...2..3...i dont want to buy something too small

What size?
Size 1 and 2 for now. Its good to consider that they outgrow them very fast if you are thinking of getting expensive shoes. I love baby shoes!
Reply:sorry everyone, but there is such a shoe size as 0. my son was born with huge feet so he was only in zero for a few weeks but most newborns are zero for at least a month.

3-6 months size 2

6-12 months size 3-4

12-18 months size 4-5

18-24 months size 6
Reply:The American Pediatrics Association recommends not putting shoes on your child at all until they are walking and even then they should be soft and flexible, not like regular shoes. Shoes will only make your son miserable and it may actually harm the development of his feet--stick to comfy socks and booties until he's at least 6-8 months old.
Reply:let me start off by saying I had two children and two baby shower's and every one bought me bigger sizes and when I brought my son home he had clothes that dround him sizes 3 months and up shoes sixe 1 and 2 etc... my point is get him 0 to 3 months clothes and size 0 in shoes hon cause I'm sure the same will happen to you. Sincerly, Michele
Reply:Shoes will make your newborn miserable. Consider these socks instead -- they look like sneakers but are comfortable and you don't have to worry about size.

Reply:If you want shoes on him (totally unnecessary until walking!), go with soft shoes such as Robeez.

What do with DEAD mother on MOTHERS DAY??

Today was mothers day, but my mother being dead for 5 year! I being so sad all day, I have no baby! Everyone else be so happy, buy roots for their mommies and smiles! and having babies making them thing out of popsicle stick. Sometime I want baby so I can have mommy, but I don't having american boyfriend! Also my job not paying much to buy candy and shoes for my baby. I cry for this. what should people like me be doing?

What do with DEAD mother on MOTHERS DAY??
Many of us have dead mothers. Find something positive to think about and quit feeling sorry for yourself. You can always go visit some poor old lady in a nursing home who has no one and read to her or take her flowers. They have it way worse than you do.
Reply:I know that it sounds silly, and cannot even compare to that of a child or mother but... I received a mother's day card from my God Child and another card from my dogs (no, the dogs did not send it to me, my relative sent it to me from the dogs). I know that it kind of sounds funny but it made me smile and remember that even though I don't have a child, I do have people that care about me greatly. I'm sure that you too have someone that was thinking about you fondly on this Mother's Day. God bless.
Reply:First of all are you upset becuse you don't have a baby of your own, or that you're mom is dead?
Reply:Just because your mother is no longer with you, does not mean you cannot honor her memory, as mine has been gone for some time, and I honor her every day fr all she did for me.
Reply:get off the drugs now...so you know if you have a baby!!
Reply:oh ladle story so sad!!! :(((

Why do I always see a single adult shoe on the side of the road?

I can understand if they were baby or toddler's shoes, but ADULT size shoes. You never see them in pairs. And, even more baffling, how do they get there?????

Why do I always see a single adult shoe on the side of the road?
So thats where my shoe went!
Reply:Im with the others, I have wonderthat that also! Im thinking it was a jealous girlfriend or boyfriend, throwing away just one shoe, to make the other person CRAZY! Not that I would ever do that. But Im strangely missing a couple of shoes......
Reply:You make me laugh! I've often wondered that too... maybe it's because if someone steps in dog crap or something and they throw their shoe in the back of their pick-up it blow out- or just doesn't make it into the truck in the first place.
Reply:I have wondered about that, too! And it's always on the highway. Never a rural area.

I dont know. I always think the worst: that there was an accident or something.
Reply:the one over the telephone line represents gangs in that area, they throw them up there
Reply:[Insert wildly concocted story here]

I dunno man. If you saw a pair of shoes, you might stop and pick them up... so you really only see single shoes.
Reply:Must be when two people are having sex in a car while driving they sometimes throw the shoes to the side quickly and if the windows are open they will be thrown out to the street- therefore you see shoes like that on the street....

Does anyone have suggestions for the name of a children's clothing boutique?

I am considering opening a small children's clothing boutique.... I need some suggestions as to what to name it. I plan on carrying baby/kids apparel, shoes, and specialty items. It will be located in a small rural community. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Where can i recycle clothing in toledo ohio?
Below is a list of 486 consignment stores in your are, just choose the one closest to you.

Goodwill/Salvation Army are another option, but keep in mind that they still sell the items then use the money for their charities- they don't just give them to those in need like I once thought.

If money for the clothes isn't important to you, then take them to a women's shelter. They will use the (women's and children's) clothes directly and would probably appreciate your generosity the most.

The Cherry Street Mission and YWCA are the only two women's shelters that I could find in your area.

Good luck!

Reply:there are churches ,drug programs, unwed mothers homes etc in toledo ohio.i am sure they would love to have them and would put them to good use.there is always the salvation army, american veterans etc. most places will pick them up at your house.

I got a msg. from Microsoft that says my program is counterfeit, dose this mean i am screwed or what?
The latest Microsoft update does check if your Windows XP is a genuine copy. However, there is a fix. I have used this method and it works. I suggest you turn off your automatic windows update installer though in case they come up with a new update that will prevent this bypass method:

How to get rid of the Microsoft Genuine check:

Lauch Windows Task Manager.

End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager.

Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode by hitting F8 during bootup.

Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32 by typing the following:

cd c:\windows\system32 %26lt;hit enter%26gt;

You should be at the system32 folder.

Type del wgatray.exe and then hit enter. (This will delete it)

Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache by typing the following:

cd c:\windows\system32\dllcache %26lt;hit enter%26gt;

Type del wgatray.exe and then hit enter. (This will delete it)

Type exit and hit enter and restart your computer to get to normal Windows Mode.

Launch RegEdit by going to start menu, then go to Run and type regedit.

Browse to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\

Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify

Delete the folder ‘WgaLogon’ and all its contents

Reboot Windows XP.
Reply:If you are sure your program is genuine just ignore the notification... If anything happens just install it again...

Is Teen Pregnancy really a problem?

If so, why do these young mothers look happy with their child? I've heard many stories of how their baby has changed their life for the good, and that the baby completes them. Is it the finicial the problem? But these babies are dressed in expensive baby clothes and shoes. Is it just a hoax about teen pregnancy? Is it really as bad as my health teacher say it is?

Is Teen Pregnancy really a problem?
I wish people would understand that it doesn't matter what age you are when you become a mother. What matters is how you mother, how much you care etc. I am not going to judge people because a girl got pregnant and high school. One of my really good friends (this was 9 years ago) got pregnant while in her senior year, graduated early, gave birth, got married, went to school, received bach degree, had another baby and is pregnant wtih another now. She is a success story. Life is what you make it.
Reply:Actually I read that teen pregnancy is way down and teen obesity is up. Put 2 and 2 together....
Reply:You can be happy and love your baby without having a friggin clue.

Teens are children them selves...and chances are ...these pregnant teens have thier own mothers helping care for their kids...so is it a problem..yes....it is.

Teens by nature are self centered...that's the way it's supposed to be...they're discovering themselves and their surroundings and they're learning... I think that's another thing that makes trying to raise a baby in the middle of that even more difficult.

I'd be interested to see a teen survive on their own with no help from parents WITHOUT a baby , let alone with one.

Babies are alot more work than the seem. I'm 34 and I just had my first, and I haven't slept in 10 months...there's no way in hell I could have put baby before me when I was a teen...no way.

Listen to your teacher...keep it in your pants.
Reply:honestly, no one here has the right to judge teen age pregnancy unless they've been threw it, they are judging from what people say and Internet.

what to know what its truly like? email me and i will tell you.
Reply:Ok. This is a sore subject for me. I have a sister-in-law who became pregnant at age 15. She lives at home. No rent to pay, no untilities to pay and no food to buy. Sounds great right. That was the beginning. She didn't graduate high school. Works at Wal-Mart now. Would not have a place to sleep if it were not for her parents. I strongly believe that teen pregnancy is a problem. But I also believe that parents and the goverment are to blame as well. As far as a baby changing their life; so can a car accident! Completing them; they need a hobby, not a baby!
Reply:Well, you can look at it this way.

The average teenaged mother will not graduate from high school. She will not attend college. That's an opportunity cost for the public. I know we're getting better about aiding young mothers through school, but most still don't finish.

These young women turn to Medicare for their health care and their baby's, and as well, most also get WIC, Food Stamps, and other benefit programs. Each cost the taxpayer. As well, she may live with her parents, who are then shouldering the cost of a new baby at a time when they should be saving for retirement, and also, they're left to worry about their own daughter, who hasn't finished school and who may or may not work.

Teenaged pregnancy is a lot of pain, not all financial. I've heard that the children of teenaged mothers are more prone to neglect and abuse as well.
Reply:ok.... coming from someone who has BEEN THERE and is still CURRENTLY THERE.... everyone above who makes every teen parent out to be a bad one can go jump off a bridge.

i was 18 while pregnant, 19 now with a 2 months old. and NO my mom and dad dont support my baby. thats just as bad as saying all white people play golf or all black people like chicken. ******* sterotypes.

i can tell you that i take care of my baby better than most women in their 20s i know who leave their kids with babysitters while they go out and party.

yes, its a problem if you arnt mature or if you cant support your child... but thats not always the case.

its not a good idea to get pregnant as a teen, but if it happens, lots of us can and HAVE put it together and are doing great. thanks.
Reply:I've never seen a teen mother who has it all pulled together. I've seen a harrowed young mom who doesn't know what it means to be an adult yet, working her butt off to pay for her and her child, quitting high school, the child growing up in daycare, not really knowing who loves him, and the father coming and going, not really settled into the family, or supporting it much. It's sad.
Reply:Ask yourself this question - do I want to be the best parent I can be? Can I give my child at least most of the following: all of my love and attention; a stable home life; financial security; the good example of having achieved an education; two committed parents; and emotionally stable mother who has gone into parenting with her eyes wide open.

I am not saying that you need to be married, middle class, college educated, home owners to have a child. Lots of different kinds of people make great parents. But, the one thing that you do need is emotional maturity, and that comes at very different ages for different people, usually later on in life, after your teens.
Reply:your health teacher says it is a problem because she doesnt know what it is like.

It isnt easy, but it is by far not the problem your teachers make it out to be...

for instance... only teachers make it out to be a problem.
Reply:When people say that Teen Pregnancy is a problem they don't mean a problem on the teens so much as just a problem in general. Meaning that many more teens are having children in high school and soon after. It's always hard to be a parent, to provide for your child, and it's even more so when you've got being a teenager and going through changes in your life on top of it. Yes, finances are a problem but most parents will spend what money they do have on their baby instead of on themselves, which is why the children are dressed nicely.

When your health teacher tells the class that "Teen Pregnancy is a problem" they're trying to educate you on how to safely be sexually active without getting pregnant.
Reply:I got pregnant with my daughter when I was a senior in highschool. That was 13 1/2 years ago. Teen pregnancy was a rising problem then, and it's become more of a problem today. Dalice was right when she said the parents of the teens pick up the slack. There was a time when my daughter and I would have been up crap creek without a paddle if it weren't for the support of my parents.

Not all teen moms don't encourage their children to go to college. I have been working towards finishing my degree and encourage my daughter to go to college (it's really a requirement). I have a savings for her as well. However, I know that my situation is probably not the norm.

Your health teacher is right. I think it's become a popular trend...kinda' like carrying around your dressed-up dog...sad.
Reply:Nope, it's bad.

The babies are taken care of because the parents of the teens support them.

They are wearing expensive clothes because teens are superficial and don't have the good sense to save the money for the kids' college (since these teens will never go to college, they likely will not want better for their kids, who will likely get pregnant as teens ensuring that no generation ever goes further than the previous). The teens are happy because they don't have to be in school OR earn a living.

A teen who needs a baby to compelte them is a teen who needs some parenting.
Reply:It is possible for a teen parent to be a good parent. Babies are a blessing, of course they change their life for good. But I haven't seen teens with babies dressed in expensive clothing.
Reply:Honey, you're just seeing "smile for the camera".

It's hard enough for adults to take care of an infant

What else do I need?

I have...

Clothes

Cloth diapers

Bottles

Pacifiers

Teething Rings

Breastfeeding support pillow

Cart cover (for shopping trips with baby)

Bulb Syringe

Shoes

Socks

Blankets

Carseat seatbelt covers and headrest

Thermometer

Baby bath tub

Baby carrier (the one you strap around your chest and back)

Bath towel and wash cloth

Baby book

Stuffed animals

Burp cloths

Handprint kit

Piggy bank

Besides basics like a crib and carseat...am I missing anything?

AND PLEASE tell me where I can get cloth diaper covers!!! i cant find them anywhere!!!

Bibs

Baby Wash

Changing Pad and Covers

Swaddlers and Sleepers

Baby Relief Kit

Baby Grooming Kit

No-Scratch Mittens

Crib Sounds Machine (ie - womb noise or nature sounds)

Dreft or other fragrance-free detergent

You may also want to consider a baby book, baby monitor, pack-n-play, stroller, and swing or bouncer.
Reply:You forgot the baby.

Really what did mothers do before all this stuff was invented. You are just a target for the manufacturers and advertising to make loads of money out of. Babies survived very well before when there was very little so please reduce your carbon foot print and cut the list of Must Haves.
Reply:You mentioned diapers, but not wipes. Do you have those yet?
Reply:I had to order diaper covers online, I couldn't find them at any stores either. Just google "cloth diapers", you'll get all kinds of sites. I forgot the names of the sites I used, i think softclothbunz.com and babylane.com.

dont forget a diaper pail, baby friendly detergent, pak n plays are great to have, playmats for tummy time, swing
Reply:how about toys? like little rattles or stuffed animales that play music. even at 2 wks my baby loves to be held and stare up at this butterfly rattle as i shake it and talk to her. and i have this pink hippo that plays music that winds up. she loves to fall asleep watching and listening to it aswell. both calm her right down. i cant say if your baby will even like music or rattles but its better to have that trick up your sleve than nothing at all. best of luck and congrats ^_^

oh and what about a baby book? photo album? camera? scrap book stuff? formula? nursing bras?

and i know its kinda out there but i cant stress how important figuring out what your going to eat for the first 2 wks. making meals and freezing them or getting all the take out menus you can. making a list for your hubby if your the one who normally goes shopping. your not going to have time to cook let alone go shopping.

What age equals what shoe sizes?

I want to buy shoes for my baby early. I already have him enough clothes up until 6-9mos but I need help on shoe sizing. like when he gets to be 3-6mos what size shoe will he where and then when he gets 6-9mos what size shoe is that, can someone please help me I really want to buy him some shoes to go with all these clothes.

What age equals what shoe sizes?
ok, this will vary a little, as everyone is different, but here it goes...

0-6 months a size 1 might will be a little big

6-9 months size 1, almost size 2

12 months size 2, maybe 3

18 months size 4

18-24 months size 5
Reply:hello.. actually babies don't need shoes until they are walking.. my children just wore socks.
Reply:Usually with a 3-6 month old that would be a size 1

6-9 months would be a size two %26amp; 9-12 months would be a size 3 or 4.
Reply:Take him with you to the shoe store. They can measure his feet and tell you exactly what will work.
Reply:every baby is different. my son was 6 months old before his feet were big enough to fit properly in a size 0 and my daughter was born with size 2 feet. babies don't really need shoes until they start walking outdoors anyway.
Reply:He really doesn't need any shoes until he starts walking.
Reply:I have no clue. I would say wait if I were you. Or just go buy whatever you think is cute for right now and don't worry about later.
Reply:For me, the easiest thing to do was to buy a bag a socks that had a measurement chart on the back. Put babies foot on it and you can see the current size.

I will also say that my kids both seem to have high arches and are both more comfortable in wide width shoes or shoes that are a bit big for them. I mention it because it was a hard thing for me to learn!

Peace!
Reply:your baby is going to grow so fast, you won't have time for shoes. they fall off any way.
Reply:0-3 size 1 for some babies..too big for mine...then a 2 till 6 mo still depends on the baby.

Should I call DHR?

I have this friend and she has 3 kids. Theres a little boy who's 3, A litte Girl that's 2, and a 2 month old little girl. My friend uses the kids to get money from the kids fathers. They all have different fathers... The little boys says things that just make u want to cry when u here him say the words he does. Pluse he'll pick up a cigg and act like he's smoking. The little girl that 2 years old is not even cared for. It's like she's not even apart of the family. They will take them out side with no jacket or shoes. The baby is well takin care of. But I think the only reason she got pregnant is show the guy she used to be with well come back to her. And give her what ever she wants. What should i do? Should I call DHR?

Should I call DHR?
YES!!!!! Call anonymously if you want, but these kids need someone to stand up for them.
Reply:Didn't give U any 'grif' over being a bad friend? They didn't tell U 'what to do'--U knew what U were going 2 do B4 U asked. U R jealous of her because she gets more financially than you from men. Otherwise, those $ comments would not have been made. U care about her kids? No, U just trifflin. Report It

Reply:What a shame that U chose not to help her. Call anonymously...it's a cowards way. Because if you call on her using UR name, they will investigate U 2. I know. I've had to do it before for Real Abuse. Sexual. Report It

Reply:UR not a part of the solution for the community. UR a part of the problem. Report It

Reply:What really ticked me off out of all the answers that told U to report--U chose the 'anonymously'. If U honestly feel U must, then have the conviction to give UR name! Report It

Reply:Please- I just look at UR info---U R only 20 years old! No wonder. U R just a babe yourself. U R still lookin for clues~ Report It

Reply:And takin care of 3 kids is heck of a lot harder than takin care of 3 pets, young one. U will learn one day. If U make call, then give UR name. DHR will keep it confidential, but they will investigate the source. Report It

Reply:I think you already know the answer to this. Yes. Yes you should.
Reply:OK I am not sure what DHR stands for, but if you suspect any kind of abuse are neglect you need to call CPS child protective services.
Reply:Take it from a social worker who worked in the children's unit, report this to DHR
Reply:i know shes your friend but you will be doing the best thing for her if you call DHR
Reply:Yes. Otherwise, if something happens to any of the kids, you'll feel bad. DHR will investigate and worse case scenario, they determine nothing is out of the ordinary.

Clear you conscience and report this.

No Shoulda Coulda Woulda allowed!
Reply:Ages 3, 2 and 2 months? That could be overwhelming. Yes, sounds like she needs help--from a friend--a Real friend.

In my state we have mandatory child abuse reporting laws for reporting Child Abuse. But it doesn't sound like you know the difference between "child abuse" and "bad parenting". You've mentioned nothing illegal in the story.

Where are you when the little girl is outside like this...standing by and watching? Why don't you say "what you doing, silly (to the mother)...here let me help you (and put something on the child)." Where are you when the little boy picks up a cigarette butt? Say, "Hey, honey put that down, that's Nasty. You don't want that Yucky. It'll make you Sick." Take it away and divert his attention elsewhere. A little chide to his mama, too.

(As for getting money from the Fathers...ahhh...that's a Good thing, lady. That's what she's Supposed to do.)

Used to people had a sense of community and the "home training" to support it. Sounds like you've got a heart...just not the know-how on how to channel it. She needs some non-judgmental support and encouragement. You may not have gotten the training from your Mother on how to lend a hand to a Sister...but don't let that stop you from stepping up to the plate and learning how to be there to lend a hand to another human being...expecially somebody YOU call a 'friend'.
Reply:you should call. those poor kids should be taken care of and loved, not used as a means to get money.
Reply:So you want the kids' taken away from the mother and put in a foster home where there's no guarntee that they'll be treated any better?

You said she was a friend so why haven't you talked to her about this? You call her a friend but can she say the same thing to you? It may look like that's why she got pregnant but that may not be the case. If she is that kind of person, why are you even friends with her?
Reply:if they don't wear coats and you feel they are beings neglected and would be better off somewhere else yes you should right away
Reply:Yes.

Are you sure, that is the question in a text or asked by the teacher? hmmmm, i would have taken the time to answer these but i don't think you are being honest about the reason you want to know, no educated person would ask that question, it makes no sense, look up prenatal, is it at all possible that it costs anything LOL come on

Does saying the word 'cute' make me less of a man?

I find my wife (carrying our baby in her bloated stretch marked plauged belly) sometime buying little things like a purse for coins and I sigh, "That is so cute"...She grimace and seem like she want to release jet of vomit (liquified with chocolate and cabbage soup) on and me and explain in psychotic moody tone that I am man and not little freckled girl scout. I grimace and I want to cry in little rivers and I ask myself and to God, "What is so bad of the word 'cute'?" Another frazzled time we saw little pair of shoes for baby and I say with rosy cheeks: " OOOOOOOOOH how cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!" in front of a bunch of little masculine boys. They kind of laugh and slapped hands in high fashion and fat wife kind of, slowly like snail, moved away from as if not to catch their poison laughs. Is it wrong for man with hairs all over body to say the word 'cute' ?

Does saying the word 'cute' make me less of a man?
No it is not wrong to say cute, it is also not wrong to wear panties and cry. Of course it is wrong, some things are just unmanly, rather than complain just clean up you vocabulary, it is the manly thing to do.
Reply:Yeah....
Reply:No, there is nothing wrong with it. Just don't call yourself cute. You will be Okay.

What you are doing is vulnerably human and certainly appreciating what God has blessed you with. It's a pity your wife doesn't appreciate that. Most women will give anything just to get a tiny attention from their men and here you are showering it upon her without been asked and you are been belittled. I am truly disgusted by her attitude. There is nothing wrong with you nor what you are saying makes you any less of a man. Well done is what you get from me!!! Stay true!!! :-)
Reply:no, I don't think so.......I think that it's cute
Reply:nah they were just being stinkers

all stinkers secretly want to be cute cuddlies
Reply:it DOES NOT matter what other ppl say....when will ppl finally get that!!!!!!!!
Reply:i could deal with the word "cute" a whole lot easier than you being a "k-fed fan."
Reply:basically not, but i admit it's kinda weird...we usu expect a man to be more rough and tough...though, i like the way you talk about your baby ;)
Reply:wow
Reply:no. say whatever you want. and beat the ppl up who ridicule you.

BALLAD OF BIRMINGHAM

"Mother dear, may I go downtown

instead of out to play,

and march the streets of Birmingham

in a Freedom March today?"

"No, baby, no, you may not go,

for the dogs are fierce and wild,

and clubs and hoses, guns and jails

ain't good for a little child."

"But, mother, I won't be alone.

Other children will go with me,

and march the streets of Birmingham

to make our country free."

"No, baby, no, you may not go,

for I fear those guns will fire.

But you may go to church instead

and sing in the children's choir."

She has combed and brushed her nightdark hair,

and bathed rose petal sweet,

and drawn white gloves on her small brown hands,

and white shoes on her feet.

The mother smiled to know her child

was in the sacred place,

but that smile was the last smile

to come upon her face.

For when she heard the explosion,

her eyes grew wet and wild.

She raced through the streets of Birmingham

calling for her child.

She clawed through bits of glass and brick,

then lifted out a shoe.

"O, here's the shoe my baby wore,

but, baby, where are you?"

Can someone paraphrase this poem please...?
A son is asking his mother if he can go protest for civil rights. She says no because she is afraid he will get hurt. He goes to church instead. While he is there, the church is bombed in the riot, and he dies. She is sad.
Reply:Are you sure it's a paraphrase you want? The language seems pretty straightforward and clear. However, it may help to know that the poem is in the style of an old ballad but commemorates a modern event--the bombing of an African-American chruch in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963. The first four stanzas are dramatic--a dialogue between the little girl and her mother--and the remaining stanzas are narrative. It might help to look at some old ballads to see how this one resembles them.
Reply:This is about the little kids who were killed while singing in their church choir at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The point is there was no where safe for people during the racial unrest of the south. The one place we all expect to be safe when we go there is church. And even that sanctuary was taken away. And how do you paraphrase something so tragic?
Reply:well, this child is asking his mom 4 permission 2 march in a protest. The mom, obviously cautious is aware that the rebelion is dangerous and forbids the child from going, offering "safe" activities like church instead.

Well, the child goes anyway. Bombs blow up, and the mom looks for her child, but all she finds is a shoe. The child is probably dead =[

I hope that helps

Help analyzing poem?
I've never heard it, but wonder if it was written about the Birmingham church bombing?

Edit:

It's referenced in the "remembrances" part of the Wikipedia article as being the poem "The Ballad of Birmingham" by Dudley Randall.

There was no safe place at that time for people involved in the Civil Rights Movement.

Read the Wiki article - you need to be informed about this if you are too young to remember!

If you know what the poem is about, you can analyze it for yourself instead of having someone tell you what it means.
Reply:The attachment of parents to their children. The horrors of war and fighting.
Reply:I think you're missing a line in this stanza:

"No, baby, no, you may not go,

For I fear those guns will fire.

And sing in the children's choir."

... because it seems that this is a poem that tells a story about a mother who would not let her child go with her to march in a Civil Rights demonstration in the streets of Birmingham (Alabama) -- and sent the child to church instead. During that era, there was one particularly bad church bombing (when African-Americans were fighting to end segregation and win their civil rights) -- in that church bombing several children were killed. So this mother who thought she kept her child safe, away from the street demonstrations, lost her child in the place she'd thought the girl would be safe.

This is NOT an analysis of the poem, by the way. This just explains to you the story the poem tells. Depending on the question your teacher asked, you'll need to think about the poem to analyze it further.
Reply:The poem tells a simple story. Don't make too much of it.

A girl wants to go on a civil rights march, but her mother won't let her.

She goes anyway.

The mother finds the shoe of her child in a building that has been destroyed on account of the march.

But the mother doesn't find her child.
Reply:The white gloves and all that suggest going to church. The mother wants her child to go to church instead of downtown because she believes it's safer there. However, she was wrong and her daughter was killed by a bomb. It's about the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church Bombing.

It was a bombing on an African-American church in Birmingham, Alabama in the U.S. by the KKK.

Why does my cat do this?

Normally she never meows and is very independant. But when we go to bed we can hear her meowing loudly and strangely. She drags our belongings into different places while meowing like that. My husbands glove or wallet off his desk will be in the hallway the next morning. lately she has been doing it while we are up watching tv. We will hear her and she will be moving one of my house shoes to the foyer. Things she has moved include beany babies, house shoes, gloves, plastic canvas items, watches, ink pens. It is really kind of bazzar. This is a daily occurance. Any idea's???

Why does my cat do this?
Has she been spayed? If so, I'm thinking she wants attention. Especially at night, she wants to play. My youngest cat used to do that until I adopted another cat to keep her company.
Reply:Thank you and have a nice day! Report It

Reply:if she is not fixed she may be in heat and crying out for some love and attention : )

Try to get a cat toy and play with her daily . She may be really bored give her some play time
Reply:One of my cats was fixed before her first heat. She uses the santa claus toy or the turtle to walk around and cry. I telll her to drop it and she does. She doesn't come by for attention. Not sure why she does this but it happens.
Reply:These things just might have different scents on them that intrigue her. I wouldn't fret too much.

THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION; is that the cats have an instinct to take things around the house if they have been taken away from there mother to soon. Also its a nursing instinct.
Reply:How old is she ? And is there a possibility she could be pregnant ? None of my cats has ever behaved that way and I have had many kitties...I hope someone has an answer for you. I'm curious too now...
Reply:because she feels left out and is looking for attention even if it is negatifve attention, buy her lots of toys and give her a spot where she can collect them and that followed by lots of love should take care of that
Reply:Maybe she's preganant. When my cat was pregnant she used to come up onto my bedroom window and meow and she used to be really affectionate more than usual.
