You can't put mosquito repelent on a baby, right? So... how do I stop mosquitos from bitting my baby?

She is 6 months old.





Each time we go out for a stroll, she comes back with at least one mosquito bite, even though she's wearing pants, socks, shoes, long sleeves, a hat... It seems to me like mosquitos can bite through your clothes!





What do I do?

There is netting you can buy to put around her stroller or if you are outside...our doctor told us we would use repellent on her clothes as long as there was no deet in it. The off skintastic or avon skin so soft both worked great. We did smear a little around her neck and ears too because she would always get them there. Just make sure it's no on her hands or face so she doesn't eat it or get it in her eyes. Good Luck!
Reply:I'm assuming she's in a stroller. I think they make mosquito/bug nets that go on the stroller to keep bugs and things out. Maybe try that :-)
Reply:Try Avon's Skin-so-Soft. Skin-so-Soft is used to repell fleas on dogs. It's just a bath oil. But please call your pediatrician first before using this to make sure it's ok.
Reply:At the pharmacy I bought a special mosquito repellant for babies, which I used on our daughter when she was 5mths old. I didnt want her running the risk of catching a disease through mosquitos so I was pretty liberal with the application come nightfall - the tricky little buggers could even get through the mosquito net we had around her crib, so we ended up putting two on so she could sleep in peace. Despite all my efforts she would always have a bite or two (if not more) covering her otherwise cute body. Poor thing.
Reply:floral smell perfumes repel mosquitoes. You might ask your pediatrician if it is OK to use light floral lotions.
Reply:Avon makes a product called Skin So Soft, and it is a good repellant. Check with your pediatrician to make sure that it is aright to use on your child.

Reply:I've heard they make special lotions just for baby, or ask your pediatrician. Most manufacturers have to put "for use on children under "so and so age" ask a doctor," to keep from being liable. These products may be safe to use, if you use them correctly and test them on a small patch of skin to make sure your baby is not allergic. Other than that, is she in a stroller? You may be able to buy some mesquito netting to wrap around the stroller, which will still allow you to see baby and baby to see the world. Good luck.

So you could go there and get that, but from what I got reading some info it's the deet in the regular repellent that is dangerous to babies so I guess if you find something without deet in it then that would be okay too. I would check with your child's Dr. before using anything like that though, no matter what the manufacturer says.
Reply:Don't use Bounce. It is almost certainly more dangerous than repellant.
Reply:try rubbing dryer sheets on him/her it helps no lie it runs in my family not particular kind i dont think.
