I broke my baby toe over two weeks ago. How long should the pain and swelling last?

It is no longer purple but red. I cannot wear shoes, just flip flops.

Broken bones take 6 weeks to fully heal.
Reply:I've also broken my baby toe - if the pain continues, check with the doctor to make sure it's not infected. My pain lasted around three weeks, but you might need to make sure something more serious isn't going on.

But still, flip flops aren't a bad idea - you want to make sure that you don't continue to aggrivate the injury with confining shoes.

Contrary to what others have posted, trust me - it is not normal to take 6 weeks for a pinky toe to heal - mine wasn't near that long. It sucks, but it's not a femur - check with your doc in a week or so if you're not starting to feel much better.
Reply:Longer than you would want. Unfortunately, even after it heals, it may take a year for you to feel confidence with it. You will favor it and over protect it. Give it another week or two, depending on how bad it's broken.

Sorry to hear that! I wish you well.
Reply:It depends on how badly you broke it. I broke my toe closet to my big toe and had to wear flip-flops for a month in October, and crammed my swollen toe into my biggest pair of tennis shoes for school. Mine hurt for two months, and the swelling has never gone completely down, though it was less noticable after two weeks and back to as small as it is now after a month.
Reply:it might last for a month just like my moms
