When you see me, a Black Hispanic, what do you think?

I ask this becuase when I was at the mall a woman dropped her babies shoe. I walked over and picked it up, and pratically chased her around the mall to give it to her. When I finally got to her, she says "Oh, thats alright, I dont want it now" WTF! I mean seriously!....I'm so pissed...

When you see me, a Black Hispanic, what do you think?
I think nothing of it. If it were me, I would have thanked you for going to the trouble to give it back to me. So many people would have just ignored the situation and kept on going. Sounds like the woman has some issues. While I could see it being easy to take it personally, just remember that you did something nice and it's her issue if she is just going to focus on the skin color/ethnicity of the person returning the shoe. You did a good thing...be happy for yourself :)
Reply:I think your kinda cute. Some people criticize me because I'm Asian. It makes me mad too.
Reply:I think success is the best "revenge".
Reply:i would be pissed about walking all over the mall trying to return something and the lady doesn't want it back

but

do you truly think she avoided you?
Reply:some people dont appreciat a act of kindness on your part
Reply:Like I said before, Some people suck.

If you did something like that for me I would be greatful. Don't let one stupid person get you down!
Reply:I don't. If I dropped something and you returned it I would say "Thank you very much." and take whatever it is I dropped.

I will admit sometimes as a woman I do get scared at night if people follow me and don't say something like "Excuse me miss, you dropped this." And even then I am wary. But I do that with people of my own race too, because you can't be too careful nowadays.
Reply:people are ignorant.
Reply:Something is being left off this question. Did the baby have the mate to the shoe on its foot?

If yes, and apparently the lady no longer wanted the shoe because you had touched it, then you met a real nut case and hopefully will consider it as such. Don't group everyone who ISN'T BlackHispanic together, and we all shouldn't group any other racial mix as one thing or another, either.
Reply:I wouldn't think anything differently than I would upon seeing anyone else.
Reply:She probably dropped the shoe on purpose because it had baby shat on it. She didn't want a shatted-on shoe!
Reply:I don't see how being a different nationality has anything to do with making a gesture of kindness. You obviously only see things as they are related to color. The lady could have phobias about her baby's things. There are many explanations but I wouldn't have chosen your nationality as a reason she didn't want the shoe as my first. Stop putting your color first and you may be able to see things for what they might really be. She just could have been a rude woman.
Reply:Wow, I'm really sorry you had to go through that. That woman was wrong and that will come back to bite her. Just shake it off and know that your background is who you are and you should be proud of it! I am mixed as well and I'm proud! Don't let people steal your joy. That lady is ignorant and in the long run will lose in life.
Reply:I think that people are to racist. But then again, everyone's a little bit racist sometimes (lol it's a song by Avenue Q) I bet even you have said something racist. I think that this situation was really rude and was OVERLY racist. When I see a black hispanic person, I just think that they're another person who doesn't need to be treated any differently than anyone else. I try no to be racist... although... -.-
