I make Diaper cakes, Diaper Bears, Diaper Wreaths etc.... The cake and the wreath come with a pair of baby shoes, a stuffed animal, the diapers, and is wrapped in ribbon and lace, the diaper bear is made of diapers, shaped like a bear and comes with a pacifier and a bib, and a pair of shoes. It is also wrapped in ribbon and lace. They are very cute and great gifts for baby showers and expecting parents. I am wondering how much I should sell each item for. The Cake costs the most to make, the Bear may cost more than the wreath, or they may fall about even. How do I know how much to charge, like how much more should I charge over how much it actually costs to make?
How much would you pay for a diaper Bear or Diaper cake?
15-20 is not nearly enough....you probably spend double that on the supplies alone. It will depend on where you live; I find that they are usually about $100 if you google them.
I make diaper bags, slings, etc. The general rule of thumb is to figure out how much the supplies cost you and how much time it takes you to make. Figure out how much you need to make hourly from it and there is your price. I usually figure $20 an hour.
Good Luck!
Reply:The cakes are so easy to make; my mom made mine by herself, so I don't know what you should charge...probably take into consideration the cost of the diapers and other materials being used plus a few dollars for profit.
Reply:$15-$20. If you advertise/set up shop in the ritzy part of your town, you may be able to charge $30
