My son's 1st birthday is coming up. What do you think of having a Baby Time Capsule for his big day?

Since a 1-yr old won't remember a thing during his 1st year, including his 1st birthday (of course!), we've planned to have his Time Capsule. It will contain the memories of his 1st year of life, and anything that will tell him what was the day like on his first birthday --- e.g. his first pair of booties, shoes, a lock of his hair kept after his first hair cut, first cut nails, photos of famous celebrities, news headline on his birthday, and more! This will be opened on his 21st birthday.

In my opinion I think 21 is a long time to wait...did you think of opening it on his 16th birthday or 18th??


another idea...get his loved ones to write letters to him....or maybe make a video for him with everyone saying their own personal message, I think that will turn out very nicely though...!

Reply:I think that's an awesome idea! I'm 22, and I wish my parents had thought of that 21 years ago....I'm actually surprised they didnt- my mom is pretty creative like that. But yea, I think that's really neat and I'm going to remember that for when I have kids. I always like looking at old picture albums, so I would love to have something that my parents made specifically for me with things other than pictures, like magazines and newspapers. Maybe you could also burn a CD of the top ten songs on itunes that day or something. Then again, CD's will probably be gone by then, but who knows!
Reply:Sounds like a great idea... I would have him open it on like his 18th birthday or maybe one of the off birthdays like 19 or 20 since nothing happens on those. But 21 is a big birthday already... i think doing it on one of the other ones would make it a little more special.... or how bout keeping it until like his wedding day? then it would be like a little present for him to make his day that much more special.
